YULA PANTHERS Extinguish Beren STARS, 79-41

Right out of the gate, YULA’s Yoni Holender scored the first point of the game with a three pointer. As the first quarter progressed, Beren, although heavily outmatched, was able to slow down the YULA offense and score some points of their own. Beren kept themselves in the game, keeping it within 9 points by the end of the first quarter. YULA’s Alex Gabbai had an incredible first quarter performance with 13 points, and the quarter ended with YULA up 21-12.

To start the second quarter, YULA scored a three pointer, which was quickly answered by a layup by Beren’s Rafi Miller, bringing his score total to 8 points. The second quarter was a back and forth battle, with each team trading off scores. YULA outscored Beren by 10 in the second, bringing the score of the game to 42-23 at the end of the half. Rafi Miller had an outstanding half, going into the locker room with 15 points.

Beren’s passing skills were looking great coming out of the half as they had back-to-back great assists under the basket. But despite their best efforts, Beren was not able to contain YULA’s powerful offense and YULA continued to strengthen their lead in the third quarter. Part of YULA’s lead was thanks to Elisha Feldman’s 8 rebounds at the end of the third quarter. The score at the end of the third quarter was 61-34.

YULA coasted to victory as the two teams’ benches scored back and forth in the final quarter of the game. The final score was 79-41. YULA’s lead scorers were Alex Gabbai with 17 points and Yoni Holender with 14 points. Beren’s lead scorer was Rafi Miller with an impressive 25 points. Although Beren lost the game, they showed potential against the 1st seeded Panthers and are showing that they can make some noise in Tier 2.
