In the first Tier 1 game on Sunday morning of the 2016 Cooper Invitational, superstar guard Ethan Lasko and the Katz Yeshiva Storm redeemed themselves with a decisive victory over the Rochelle Zell Tigers.

It was apparent in this consolation game that the Storm were not just going to sit around and go easy. Ethan Lasko displayed his shooting prowess, going 4 for 4 from downtown and 2 more in the paint. Rochelle Zell tried to get some footing against the Storm, but they could not find their go-to guys and no player had more than 2 points in the quarter. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 20 – 14 in favor of the Storm.

The rain kept coming down in buckets for the Storm as the second quarter got underway. Lasko drained 2 more three’s and got some offensive support from the rest of the team. The Storm’s defense went into lockdown mode as well, and held the Rochelle Zell Tigers to only 2 points for the entire quarter. The Storm meant to roll out of Memphis with a victory and they were not letting up. The score at the half was 35 – 16.

The third quarter did not go well for Rochelle Zell as they seemed to take cover from the intense Storm from Boca. The center of the Storm, Jeremy Purow, contributed 8 points on put backs and second chance points. Ethan Lasko added another from downtown, and there seemed to be no answer for Rochelle Zell. Once again the game seemed one sided as the Storm held the Tigers to 7 points for the reminder of the quarter. The score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 51 – 23.

Coach Bryan White, in mentchlach fashion, pulled his starters and gave the crowd a glimpse of the future of the Katz Storm to start the 4th quarter. The Storm was still able to outscore Rochelle Zell 8 – 5 in the quarter and won by a final score of 58 – 28.

The Katz Yeshiva Storm leave Memphis with a respectable 2-2 record, while Rochelle Zell will leave with a record of 1-3 in Tier 1. However, Rochelle Zell does not leave empty handed, as they did manage to knock off the #6 seed YULA Panthers in the first round.
