11-2-2013 | Falcons Fly Past Fasman 58-34, Advance to Tier 2 Championship

The first Tier 2 semi-final game of the evening featured the Flatbush Falcons against Fasman Yeshiva of Skokie, IL. Both teams turned it over on their first plays of the game. Flatbush forward Michael Hadad hit consecutive three-pointers to put the Falcons on the board, and Fasman looked a bit out of sync. Flatbush attacked the basket and finished the quarter with a 12-11 lead over Fasman. Guard Shlomo Ashkenazy had five points in the quarter for Fasman, while Haddad and Joey Dayon both had six points each for Flatbush.

Flatbush started off the 2nd quarter with yet another three-pointer from Hadad. The quarter was highly-contested, with neither team pulling away from the other. Big man Dovy Klein of Fasman made a nice and-1 play to tie up the score, but Joey Dayon fired back with four quick points for Flatbush. The score at the end of the half was 23-20, in favor of Flatbush.

At the beginning of the 3rd quarter, Fasman lost their center, Dovy Klein, who fouled out. Elisha Rosenwasser scored 4 points for Fasman in the quarter, but Fasman could not stop the hot shooting of Flatbush’s Michael Hadad. Flatbush began to pull away, but Fasman managed to still stay in the game. The score at the end of the third quarter was 38-28 in favor of the Falcons.

In the 4th quarter, a three-pointer from Hadad and a steal off a fastbreak for Dayon gave Flatbush an 18 point lead. Dayon caught fire afterwards, scoring six in the quarter. Fasman struggled to hold on to the ball, and Flatbush cruised to a 58-34 victory and a spot in the Tier 2 Championship. Josh Gordon had 9 points for Fasman and for Flatbush, Michael Hadad scored 19 points.
