Magen David, the sixth seed of the Cooper Invitational, took control of the game early, breaking the eleventh seed NCJHS’s press to take an eight point lead following the first quarter. New Jew brought the game down to a two-point deficit in the second quarter, but the Warriors proved too mighty for the Jaguars. Magen David then picked up their game and extended their lead to thirteen.

At halftime, I had the opportunity to speak with New Jew’s Noah Emanuel. He noted that they would come out with an entirely new strategy for the second half. And the Jaguars did exactly that. Led by Micha Getzug, the Jaguars immediately bounced back into the game, ending the third quarter only down by 4. But the Cougar defense could not withstand the menacing Warriors, and the Magen David Warriors finished off the NCJHS Jaguars 80-54.

Morris Dweck led the Warriors with 18 points, while Edan Evanhaim led the Jaguars with 21 points. The Warriors move on to play the Hillel Hurricanes in Tier 1, while the Jaguars, hoping to get their bite back, move into Tier 2.
