There was excitement in the air as the home team, the Cooper Macs, played their first game of the Cooper Invitational against the Fasman Yeshiva High School who were making their first appearance in the tournament.

The Fasman Yeshiva jumped out to an early 9-0 lead before freshman Bryan Itkowitz made a layup and got fouled on the play bringing the crowd to its feet. Sam Rapp kept the hustle level on high for the Cooper Macs in the 2nd quarter when he made a diving effort for the ball. However, Fasman Yeshiva ended the second quarter with a 6-0 run, finishing the half with an 18-7 lead.

The second half started the same as the first half, with good defensive efforts by both teams. Fasman Yeshiva got their offense going later in the third quarter, when they went on a 10-2 run.

Even with 4th grader Simcha Osdoba keeping the Cooper spirit alive with his blue Maccabee costume, it could not stop senior Moshe Blockman and sophomore Efroni Schlesinger from fouling out in the 4th quarter. Fasman Yeshiva closed the game out with an 8-0 run and won the game 40-18.

Fasman Yeshiva moves on in Tier 1 and will play Hillel Miami while the Cooper Macs will try and back on track in Tier 2 tomorrow.
