In the second semi-final game of the evening, the #4 North Shore Stars faced off against the #1 ranked Magen David Warriors. North Shore won the tip and scored immediately. Then Benji Hakakian of North Shore converted a three point play to make it a 5-0 game. North Shore continued its run when Jason Levian made a layup to put the Stars up 7-0 which forced the Warriors to call timeout. Amin Adjmi scored the first bucket for Magen David which then started a 5-0 Magen David run. Jason Levian of the Stars ended the run with a nice layup, and then Josh Cohen also scored for North Shore. Both teams scored again, and then Magen David went on an 8-1 run to take the lead. At the end of the first quarter, it was 17-14 Magen David. Jason Levian scored 9 of North Shore’s 14 first quarter points.

North Shore started the second quarter with a 3-0 run which tied up the game. Amin Adjmi scored the first points of the quarter for the Warriors, and then both teams scored. Leon Betesh extended Magen David’s lead to three when he made a free throw. The Warriors kept scoring and extended their lead to six on a Mark Sayegh three-pointer. Then North Shore went on a 4-0 run to cut the lead to two, but Mark Sayegh made another three and a layup to give the Warriors a seven point lead. Benji Hakakian made a buzzer beater for North Shore to make it a 32-25 game, but Magen David still led. Mark Sayegh, a 5’9 guard for Magen David, had 8 of Magen David’s 15 points in the quarter.

Magen David scored the opening points in the second half with two free throws. North Shore responded with a 4-0 run of their own led by Benji Hakakian. Both teams made some free throws, and then North Shore made a layup to cut the lead to four. Both teams scored, but Magen David maintained its lead. Benji Hakakian scored again cutting the Warriors lead to four. Magen David made two free throws, but then North Shore went on and 6-2 run to end the third quarter to make it a 41-40 game.

Magen David scored the first points of the fourth quarter to extend their lead to three, but then North Shore went on a 5-0 run to take a two point lead. On the other end, the Warriors took advantage of its own three point play, but Josh Cohen made a layup on the other end to give North Shore the lead. Magen David made some free throws and took a one point lead. Morris Dweck made more free throws and made it a 50-47 Magen David lead. Both teams scored some more, and then Benji Hakakian made some free throws to tie up the game for North Shore. With two minutes left, Michael Zbrowski made a layup, then a three pointer, and then another layup to put North Shore up by seven. North Shore made some free throws to take out the #1 seed Magen David Warriors. The Stars will advance to the Cooper Invitational Championship game and play against the #6 Chicago Tigers. The high scorer for Magen David was Morris Dweck with 16 points, and for North Shore it was Michael Zbrowski with 18 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter to carry his team to the championship game.
