Beren Stars rise above AJA Jags 70-45

In a battle for 14th place, two southern teams faced off as The AJA Jaguars from Atlanta, faced off against the Beren Stars from Houston. The game started off close, as AJA and Beren went point for point, Beren up by 1, 8-7 with 3 minutes left in the first. Beren extended their lead with 30 seconds later with a great steal and three from sharp shooter Diner. But the Jags stormed back with a layup and a three, bringing the score to 12-12 tie with 30 seconds on the clock. AJA ended the quarter with a 7-0 run as they pulled ahead 14-12. 

In the 2nd quarter, it was a real back and forth between Beren and AJA, both teams tying up the game over and over until 3 minutes left in the quarter when Beren pulled ahead, 25-21. Beren continued to grow their lead and ended the half with a commanding 33-28 lead.

The 3rd quarter went on much like the last, as AJA was able to score, but Beren continued to maintain their. However, with 3:30 left on the clock, Beren began to break the game wide open, bringing their lead up to 8, 42-34. Both teams slacked a bit on defense this quarter, allowing for many open layups and sloppy fouls, as the game was brought to 47-36 with 1:30 left on the clock. Beren ended the quarter with the lead, 51-38, with a combined 41 points from the Diner brothers.

In the first half of the last quarter, Beren extended their lead to 58-45 with some great offensive playmaking. Beren’s star players the Diner Dynamic Duo continued to extend their teams lead with 49 total points. Beren took the game home in a decisive victory, 70-45 their lead, with the amazing Diner brothers scoring 22 and 27 points for their team.
