The #2 seed Charles E. Smith JDS Lions and the #4 seed RASG Hebrew Academy Warriors faced off for fifth place on Sunday morning and the final day of Cooper X. The tipoff went to the Warriors, and they got the ball to Jack Esformes who scored the first points of the game. The Lions came out more aggressive and they took an early lead with the help of star Bryan Knapp, who will be playing at Cornell next year. When the first quarter came to a close, he already had 9 points. The Lions led 21-9 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Warriors started off well, getting Esformes some good looks. Ben Tal started hitting shots, helping the Warriors stay within reach. They had a very solid quarter, performing on both ends of the floor. They finished the half trailing by just five points, 29-24.

In the third quarter, Knapp and Daniel Kuhnreich were dominant for the Lions, who were very strong offensively throughout the entire game. Knapp was strong both inside and outside, making it difficult for the Warriors to defend him. The Warriors continued to dish the ball out to Esformes, whose shooting was incredible, but it wasn’t sufficient to get them in the lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Lions maintained a pretty big lead throughout. Knapp was unstoppable, and when he slammed down a dunk with two minutes to go, it was clear the game was over. The game ended with the Lions winning 61-47. Esformes was the leading scorer for the Warriors with 21 points, and Knapp led the Lions with 29 points. The CESJDS Lions leave Memphis with a record of 3-1 in Tier 1 while the RASG Warriors also went 2-2.
