Image result for tubby smithCoach Tubby Smith is currently beginning his first season as the men’s basketball head coach for the University of Memphis TIGERS.  Smith previously served in the same role at Texas Tech, Minnesota, Kentucky, Georgia, and Tulsa. With Kentucky, he coached the Wildcats to the 1998 NCAA championship.

In his 25 plus years as an NCAA head coach, Smith has had 19 seasons of twenty or more wins. In 2005, he joined Roy Williams, Nolan Richardson, Denny Crum and Jim Boeheim as the only head coaches to win 365 games in 15 seasons or fewer. With Texas Tech’s invitation to the 2016 NCAA Tournament, Smith became only the second coach in history to lead five different teams to the NCAA tournament.  Smith also served an assistant coach for the 2000 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team.

In his illustrious career, Smith has coached collegiate stars like Jamaal Magloire, Nazr Mohammed, and Jodie Meeks and NBA Champions Rajon Rondo and Tayshaun Prince.
